Program Note
Pied Piper was written to be a part of a solo flute consortium called Toadstool Tales, the brainchild of lead commissioner and flutist Jaclyn Breeze. The consortium includes three solo flute pieces inspired by classic fairy tales and composed by Paul Berlinsky, Jaclyn Breeze and Dustin Dunn. During the summer of 2024, Breeze read each story aloud in accompaniment with the pieces during a series of free community performances. As a consortium, this project was funded by community efforts from flute players around the world.
